Beginning packaging research

We got given a recent brief on which we were told we had to create our own identity with packages and logos. After our first workshop in creating different shapes out of paper with scoring and such I decided I would start my research off by looking at some very clever yet simple packaging.

I came across these different packages. I think the first one is a very intelligent way of advertising the risk of smoking. These days we see horrible pictures of the effects of smoking on the front of packets, and I can't argue that they aren't effective, but I do think people react in different ways to different types of packaging. So I think this coffin shape is a clever way to still let people know of the risk, yet its not in their face.

The second image I love as it doesn't have a large amount of branding yet people know what it is as it represents a bee. It looks simplistic and elegant in the kitchen, as I believe that sometimes over branding items can make a kitchen look cluttered.
