three words

After listening to my song a couple of more times I decided on three words that I thought summed up the song:

• power
• electricity
• static

These words gave me another idea. My animation could be the 'development of electricity'. Showing all the different ways that electricity works, such as a circuit or the work of Nikola Tesla and the coil that he discovered. Since my music for my animation reminds me of an electric current I thought it'd be a good way to display it. I have also chose a different section for my animation, 2.50 to 3.20 seconds.

"Animation is not the art of drawings that move but the art of movements that are drawn."

After reading this quote I really want to make sure the patterns and objects in my animation move to the music in my animation. Since it's quite techno and electronic it may be quite hard but I think it'll be effective.

animation research

I decided I needed to research some animation videos and decide which style to take on. Although I really like the first two I wouldn't know how to create that so I decided to go with something similar to the last one. However the beginning will hopefully start like the first two.

ANIMATION

For this brief I was given a song called gantz graf by Autechre. After listening to this piece at first I was slightly overwhelmed as I had no idea at all what I could do for the animation but then I started to come up with a few ideas:

• some kind of 'trip'
• car transformation
• junkyard
• fruit blending
• musical notes
• patterns moving
• racing
• car being made
• inside of a tree, mechanical
• a room being rearranged

I think I should go with bright warm colours to give the animation a warm effect, which is quite in contrast to the music itself.

I have chosen to go with the timing 1.30 to 2.00 seconds, 30 seconds long. 

I have also chosen to to go with a can transformation, which will turn into different objects after a woman has put the can down.
